Here is a small collection of tunes that I'm currently working on. Who knows when they'll be finished. Maybe some of them are already.
A song I did with Jim. Possibly my favourite so far. About not wanting people to change.
Here's a song I worked on with my mate Jen. She did the keyboards, and I did the geeky stuff on my computer. She's good at piano. I'm good at geeky stuff.
Clairey and I threw this one together one lovely Sunday afternoon in April, and we've been messing around with it ever since. We might get Max to throw down some double bass, we might flood it with additional Hammond parts, we might just leave it till we're old and grey and have got nothing better to do than re-re-arrange the speaky bits. Who can say at this stage?
You know, I think I'm as happy with this tune now as I'm ever going to be, after endless evenings of re-tweaking. Thanks to James for help with the mixing and Nick for great feedback.
Here's a tune that Jim and I recently finished. Yes, that's right, finished! It's actually quite scary declaring that a song is finished because it means that it is how it is and its not going to change, for beter or worse.
Anyway, imagine a pleasant drive in the country, marred by gathering storm clouds ahead, which bring a sense of foreboding. Then the sun breaks through the clouds bringing calm and relief. That's the picture that we attempted to paint here.
This is possibly the ponciest name I've ever come up with for a tune. I lovingly worked on this for ages as part of Radiohead's loophole competition (it uses some of their samples). I finished it in Februrary, three days after the competition closed. That'll learn me. Jen paid the biggest compliment to this tune when she listened to it all the way to the end. Other responses have varied.
